Listen. I love a bougie bean as much as the next millennial.
But something about Bold Bean Co's new advertising campaign 'Obsession' feels really icky. And no, it's not just because the founder is campaigning for more beans in schools instead of, I don't know, universal free school meals. Although that is icky too.
I mentioned it in the Snackcord, but I wanted to unpack it a bit more here.
The premise of the campaign is that the beans are so GD irresistible that you feel compelled to scoff the whole lot. The campaign shows people spooning, licking, and plucking beans straight from the jar.

Suggesting a food is irresistible is not a new idea in food marketing; think about the 'once you pop you can't stop!' Pringles commercial and the Lay's ' I bet you can't eat just one'.
