Hello from NYC! I'm here on holiday for a few more days so no regular thread today. But I have seen lots of things while I've been here that made me think 'that's extremely CIHAS coded'. Rather than spam the Snackcord, I figured I'd put them all in their own post. So join me (and my travel companion, CIHAS's medical correspondent – and my IRL friend – Dr. Hammad) as we explore NYC's cute little gift shops, grocery stores, and book shops.

Firstly, a few observations. There hasn't been nearly as much GLP-1 discourse as I imagined. I've seen a couple of shady looking dispensaries advertising them, and overheard a few conversations. Dr. Hammad's take on this was kinda grim but I fear he's right that it's just so normalised here they don't really need to push it in your face as much. Any New Yorkers in the room, feel free to weigh-in in the comments; pun 100% intended.

We've mostly been in Manhattan, but have come over to Brooklyn for the last couple nights before I head back to London and he heads to a family wedding. The food has been so good. We're both vegan, and while a lot of old NYC institutions I know and love from back in the day when I lived in the US (and was a semi-frequent visitor to the city) are no longer, the options here kind of blow London out of the water. I can share a bit about what we ate next week if you are interested, but now we're in Brooklyn I'm excited to hit up one institution that has survived, Dun-Well Donuts and newcomer (and apparently instant classic), Sunday C&C.

Ok, LFG.
